What does the white light of GPS Locator indicate? It is in standby mode and signal searching when the light is on. It is in position fixed status when the light glitters

Is it OK to pull out the GPS Locator when the light glitters? Yes, you could.

The white light on the GPS Locator does not stay on when it is plugged into the computer
  • Unplug the GPS Locator and then plug it back in. make sure the connector is not reversed and being forcefully inserted into the port.
  • Check the cable connector. Is it dirty, dusty, or "contaminated"? (If USB Cable is used)
  • If it does not work when connected through a second device such as USB hub or the keyboard, try connecting it directly to the computer. If it works there, the issue is with the device to which it had been previously connected.
  • Check the GPS Locator in all the USB ports on the computer. Sometimes one port on the computer will stop functioning, but others will still work.

When the GPS Locator is installed properly, the white light stays on, but “Unknown devices” displays on the computer screen, why?
  • Unplug the GPS Locator and then plug it back in. make sure the connector is not reversed and being forcefully inserted into the port.
  • If the GPS Locator is not damaged, make sure the it is installed correctly:
Open the Device Manager by doing one of the following:
Windows Vista: ClickStart > Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Device Manager.
Windows XP: ClickStart > Control Panel > System.Click the Hardware tab, and then clickDevice Manager.
Right-clickMy Computer and choose Propertiesfrom the shortcut menu. Click theHardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
Click Ports (Com & LPT) nd verify thatU-blox 5 – GPS Receiver is in the list.

Can I connect the GPS Locator with the host that supports USB 2.0? Yes. But user should confirm whether the USB2.0 driver in the PC has been installed properly, or connection may be failed. (If there is a "!" under "equipment controller"→ "USB Controller" or there is no "USB 2.0 Root Hub", that means you did not install the USB2.0 driver properly on the PC.)

I have more than one GPS Locator, can I program more than one service at the same time? Yes, you can if you would.

GPS Locator can not fix a position within 60 seconds. Why?
  • Position fixing may not be available when this receiver is used near high-voltage wire, electronic equipment that generates electrical noise, or mobile phones in operation at a frequency of 1.5 GHz. The noise from PDA or PC may also deteriorate GPS signal reception.
  • In such a place where signals from GPS satellites are reflected by buildings, positions may not be accurately measured. If there is a significant difference in the result, we recommend moving to another place and retry the position fixing.
  • Under normal operating conditions, the GPS Locator can usually fix a position within 60 seconds. In case the receiver is unable to fix a position within 90 seconds, we recommend disconnecting the GPS Locator from the computer and plugging it back in ten seconds later.
  • When left disconnected from the computer for a long period of time, a "cold start" will be automatically initiated before the next operation. This may cause position fixing to take longer.

What are the PRECAUTIONS for the GPS locator?
  • Do not touch the connectors of the receiver with fingers or insert foreign objects; it may cause failure.
  • Do not put the GPS Locator in a place exposed to direct sunlight for a long period of time; near heating equipment; a place that can become hot, or humid places, such as bathrooms.
  • Do not wet this receiver unit; otherwise a failure may be caused. If used in rain, fog, or snow, be careful not to wet its electrical connections.
  • Do not drop this receiver, subject it to severe impact, or place it upon a surface that vibrates; otherwise a failure may be caused.
